Artist. Nomad. Dreamer.
About the Artist
Layla Fahim emerges back from years of quiet research and introspection. Her inspiration stems from life itself, and from her travels and encounters. She has a particular interest in the ephemeral quality of life, of furtive moments, and of the relationship between human beings and spaces. She can easily move from a detailed and intricate small work to a larger expression and view of the world. She sees our planet in a state of destruction by other ones who most depend on it: humanity. It is not surprising that her work depicts all the elements: water, air, earth, and at times fire. Humankind is challenges by the forces of nature and continuously struggles to remain balanced.
Layla Fahim completed a Fine Arts degree with a minor in Architecture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During her education, she also learned the intricate processes of etching and intaglio printing. Oil painting remains her preferred medium to use, even though she has mastered other mediums.
